Road & Gravel Rides

The border triangle offers scenic tours for all bike fans. On six specially designed routes between 60 and 160 kilometers, amateur cyclists will have the opportunity to explore the beautiful landscape on May 11, 2024, off-road or on the road. 3RIDES provides refreshments and physical well-being at selected feeding points.

The Road Rides routes

After the start, all routes lead to the south-west of Aachen, past the Aachen Clinic and in direct direction to the Belgian border of Kelmis (La Calamine). Via the German-speaking community, the route continues into the Walloon part of the province of Liège. The route meanders through the hilly landscape around Hombourg, Henri-Chapelle and Limbourg in a very scenic way.

The two longer routes lead from Limbourg to the High Fens Nature Park with the highest point in Belgium, Mont Rigi at almost 700 meters altitude.

The short route continues to Eupen, the capital of the German-speaking community. From here the route goes via the Vennkreuz in the Petergensfeld, at the northernmost edge of the Hoher Venn, to Raeren. The short course continues over an undulating profile back to the German-Belgian border at Hergenrath and then back to the CHIO grounds in Aachen.

The two long routes lead after Mont Rigi and Barque Michel also to Eupen and the Wesetalsperre through an undulating profile back to the German-Belgian border at Hergenrath and the same way as the short route back to the CHIO grounds.

The Gravel Rides routes

All routes lead from the north-west of Aachen to the province of Zuid-Limburg in the Netherlands - the home of the Amstel Gold Race is an absolute Mecca for many racing cyclists. However, the gravel routes in the Limburg Heuvelland are not inferior to the well-known racing bike routes. Our three routes lead over countless gravel passages, past meadows and streams and always with a fantastic view of the hills around Valkenburg and Maastricht.

With constant ups and downs, the two long routes lead, among other things, past the "Netherlands American Cemetery and Memorial" in Margraten, the only U.S. military cemetery in the Netherlands. The hills of the region always offer beautiful views and give the gravel rides a great variety: from short crisp climbs with cool descents to nice flat sections for cruising. After crossing the German border on the way back, the tracks continue over part of the UCI Gravel Race course near Orsbach and Vetschau.
